I’m so tired of hearing people say, “But you don’t look like you have an eating disorder.” Either to me, or a friend. It seems that our level of health should be determined by how sick we look.
Do they expect everyone who stuggles to look like the girls interviewed on Larry King Live? And what excatly is an eatind disordered person supposed to look like anyways? With thin so “in” in the media, we really can’t look that different. I mean. The modles and stars have eating disorders and we consider them “normal”. So we basically just look “normal” to everyone else. “You don’t look like you have an eating disorder”. No, I just look the same as eveyone else who does!

Your posts…
I just don’t know how to say how they make me feel…but i enjoy reading them They “help?” Especially this one. Not everyone who goes to the gym looks like they are fit. Likewise, not everyone with an ED doesn’t look emaciated. What triggered your ED, if you will? You can e-mail me back anytime. I’m struggling myself. It’s quickly taken up (on and off) 3 years of my life already.

Thank you! I’m sorry to hear about your struggle…it truly is hell, and it does steal your life. I hope your recovery is going well right now.

wow. i cannot explain how much i agree with you. there was a special on dr. phil a few weeks ago about eating disorders and the only people they had on there were people who fit the “image” of someone with an eating disorder. People dont think the issue is bad enough unless you fit that “image”….frustrating is a perfect word to describe this. thank you.
